Do you have a source on this?

THAT IS RUMOR not fact

ALEX WEEKES has this to say about rumors and i quote

I know it's incredibly boring, but I can only repeat what Gaile has said when asked about rumours in the past:

Until we confirm something, don't set your heart on it being true. If it's a rumour, chances are it's going to be wrong. That's the way these things go, a lot of the time. Someone will talk about something they'd *like* to have, and overtime as more people talk about it it gets twisted into "I heard they are going to do this..."__________________

This discussion seems to be pro-longed by people who do not read previous post. So far we have found out these following facts to be true.

a) Anet has delayed release date of C4 for the time being.
b) Anet did not promise a date in either posted form on GW official site, nor in its financial statement.

We have also heard some good arguments for both sides. I would say the best anti argument would be that people are getting bored with the game if not a new installment is released every 6 months. The best pro argument would be that we should expect quality of the game over time of release.

This is a simple discussion, but it seems some people just like seeing their post. The repetition of the last two pages are mirrored from the first two.

STATEMENT OF FACT: The C4 will be released when it is ready. Go pvp and farm the elite areas until then. Complaining about it is senseless and unnessecary. I expect a good run with the guild wars saga. Its end will come in a few years just like all the other games previous, but we still have much to look forward to. Lets enjoy the great service that ANET/NCSOFT provides us until then.

I heard the next campaign is delayed because they are adding flying mounts and weapons that talk to you.

where did you find these facts and how were they proven true?

unless you have an official Anet announcement of delay you have no facts.

we are all waiting for your proof on this

QFT

That's been my point exactly. A lot of claims to fact have been made w/o sources, that makes them rumors.

Anet = Developer, NCSoft = Distributor

Anet is wholly-owned subsidiary of NCsoft Corporation which means they are mostly autonomous. It also means that Anet doesn't necessarily always give NCSoft all thier info.

Even Gaile said that she didn't know what the NCSoft line about the Guild Wars update was all about.

The facts that are confirmed are:
1. They are working on Campaign 4
2. Campaign 4 is scheduled for a 2007 release (no specific timeframe)
3. Campaign 4 will be expanding on the Guild Wars world (not starting a new "world" with a new "trilogy" as many have speculated.) There may well be a marked differece with 4, or even starting a new branch of the history of that world, but it will be in the same Guild Wars world. That also means that it will not be starting a new set of games (i.e. Guild Wars 2) as some have speculated.
4. Gaile has stated that we would get some info about Campaign 4 "soon" (no specific timeframe)

== quote from Arena Net's site ==
ArenaNet is currently working on a fourth campaign that will once again expand the explorable world of Guild Wars and provide ever-deepening insight into the history of that world and the stories of its people. It is scheduled for release in 2007.
========== end quote ============

Anything else is pure speculation and rumor with little or no basis in fact. The one thing that does seem to point to a major difference in the timeframe of the release is that NF had the first info about it released just less than 3 months after Factions went live.

We are now past the 4 month mark after NF going live, but the delay could be due to the major events that they have been putting on in the interim. That still does not necessarily translate to a major delay, or Campaign 4 being released in the fall. It could simply mean that the beta weekend will be 1 month before release instead of 3.

But like I said other than what has been confirmed by Anet, it's all speculation and unfounded rumor.

Absolutely. Different people have different desires from the game, and each position is valid in its own right.

yes yes, it was the wrong words for the statement. The comment "a) Anet has delayed release date of C4 for the time being. ", is not correct. Words do make a difference ehh? I would like to change the statement to " Anet has delayed release info on the C4 for the time being." Now that is more proper and true. The original statement taken literaly would mean that Anet is not going to release the game in the supposed six month period, or in a near schedule. The statement however was meant by me to state that as in past, the info on new chapters or works was released at this point between games. Sorry for the mixup, and thanks for the correction Lovistar.

my apologies for jumping so hard and deleted it.

it is simply that someone skimming it will take it to another site as proven fact.

GAILE GRAY said this about the financial report

Quote:
Note: You cannot "delay" something that has not been announced. You cannot push back a date that has never been discussed officially via any means. I'm sorry if anyone is disappointed with what they're reading, but until they read it from us -- any part of any announcement of anything to do with what ArenaNet creates -- well, they're taking a risk that they're putting stock in a handful of air.

I'm not *upset* at waiting, but it does make me worry. If ANet's business plan is built on 2 new chapters a year, won't their cash flow be damaged by going below that? I want them to stay afloat for a long time, because there is nothing like this game.

I'm guessing the next campaign will come out after the weapon contest is over. Best guess is that if they can get all the winning items finished in a month, then the game will go gold within a month of the end of the contest.

I must say I am really happy with the delay to release of C4. I play both PVE and PVP with almost every character type in my PVE arsenal and love taking part in almost every espect of the game I can. To be able to fully develope my characters, plus heros now and PVP 6 months is just not long enough.
Hopefully this will be the start of ANET increasing the time between new chapter releases. There is so much to do in the game these days that I feel anyone complaining about boredom is not getting the whole experience. Plus with new chapter realeases there will be even more to do with even more characters created.

Bring on the delays

I love playing Guild Wars and I have enjoyed all the chapters, sure they all have some annyoing things in them but at the end of it all Guild Wars is fun to play, I just wish we would know something about what is happening with Campaign 4. A Gail Chat Log posted a few weeks ago said that there might be some news soon about Camapign 4 but nothing yet, hopefuly sometime in March will know SOMETHING.

The inability of Anet to announce that CH4 went gold "tommorow" is not a rumor. It's based on inference that such a move would be financial suicide. They will start cranking up the hype machine at least 2 months before release, but probably much earlier that.

Nightfall will be 4 months old pretty soon and I havent heard ANYTHING on chapter 4. Has anyone else?

Are they going to screw us over on their promise or will they deliver? Your opinion?
The next three chapters have already been completed. NCSoft is sitting on them because they had a meeting discussing ways to specifically annoy you.

Gaile has already stated that the "6 month release schedule" was never mentioned by ANet and that it was all said by the community!

they have never said they are sticking to a 6 month release schedule and it is also already well known that the next release is due in Q3 2007, meaning July to September this year... this is old news, so why is this thread still open???

is JEFF STRAIN an acceptable source for the 6 month schedule?

i quote him
Quote:
So what does the future hold for Guild Wars? "We will continue to fully support Guild Wars and Guild Wars Factions with balance changes and features, like new ways to join parties," said Strain. "We will not, however, be working on new missions... those sorts of things will be part of new campaigns. We have two development teams working on a staggered release schedule, so we'll have a new campaign out every 6 months. We also have a 'Live' team which makes sure that content is constantly being added, often for holidays like Halloween and 'Winter's' day. So people can expect a lot of incoming content."

http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/toppers/?id=12786

"We have a solid engine we'll see where we can take it. News about Guild Wars Campaign 3 will be coming out this summer, so stay tuned!" concluded Strain.
JEFF STRAIN 2 CHAPTERS PER YEAR
